MemoryAfter the end of the Great Patriotic War, Stalin expressed gratitude to Colonel-General V.I.Kuznetsov for both the Moscow Battle and the capture of the Reichstag. On May 29, 1945, he was awarded the title Hero of the Soviet Union. The central square of the town of Yakhroma, in the liberation of which the troops under his command were directly involved, is named after General Kuznetsov. In 1966, a memorial complex with an Eternal Flame was opened next to the square in memory of the residents of the town of Yakhroma who died during the Great Patriotic War. The Kuznetsov Garden is located behind the complex.
Dmitrov Secondary School No.1 is named after V.I.Kuznetsov. By decree of the President of the Russian Federation Dmitry Medvedev in 2008, Dmitrov was awarded the honorary title 'Town of Military Glory' "for the courage, perseverance and mass heroism shown by the defenders of the town.". Dmitrov became the first town where the stele 'Town of Military Glory' was installed.
In 1941, during the Moscow Battle, Mariya Litnevskaya (Barsuchenko), a switchman at Dmitrov station, under bombardment and constant fire from the Nazis, ensured the preparation of routes and manual switching of arrows, including for maneuvers and advance of armored train No.73 into the town of Yakhroma. For this feat, she was awarded the Order of the Red Star in 1942.
On May 17, 2019, at the initiative of the I Live by Sports Society, the government of the Moscow Region and the administration of the town of Dmitrov, Oleg Belozerov, General Director of the OJSC Russian Railways, issued an order to rename the stop of the 75th km of the Savyolovo direction of the Moscow Railway to the Barsuchenko stop in honor of the veteran of the Great Patriotic War, an Honorary resident of the town of Dmitrov by Mariya Timofeyevna Barsuchenko. By the law of the Moscow Region in 2020, the town of Yakhroma was awarded the honorary title of the Moscow region "Settlement of military Valor".
